Cape Gazette tags along on Andy’s Asheville to Nashville Tour

June 23, 2017

Cape Gazette readers Joe and Lori Holtzinger recently traveled to Mount Airy, North Carolina. “We dubbed the trip as ‘Andy’s Asheville to Nashville Tour,’” said Lori. “Joe is a lifelong ‘Andy Griffith Show’ fan, so that explains the Andy part of the trip. This all came about because Mount Airy was Andy’s home town and details about the area were included in the show’s scripts. The statue in our picture was commissioned by TV Land and is outside the Andy Griffith Museum.”

The local couple also traveled to Chimney Rock State Park and enjoyed the shops, galleries and the Biltmore in Asheville. In Nashville, they enjoyed music at B.B. King’s Jazz Club, the Country Music Hall of Fame and a show at the Grand Ole Opry.

Lori was also sure to mention that they had really good barbecue and biscuits. They took their bikes along and used them in each locale.

“It was a great road trip and we enjoyed having our Cape Gazette traveling companion along for the ride,” said Lori.
