Cape Gazette travels to Italy for an exciting family vacation
In June the Barrows family took their favorite newspaper on an amazing trip to Italy. Brian and Jenn Barrows enjoyed having their sons Grant (11) and Griffin (13) accompany them. Griffin used the Italian his mom taught him very naturally while exploring Venezia, Firenze, Pisa, Siena, Torrita di Siena, Monteriggioni and finally Roma. Jenn studied in Firenze in 1990 and the boys loved meeting her parents and friends all over Tuscany. Highlights of their trip included staying in an apartment just 17 meters from Brunelleschi’s Dome in Firenze and dinner on their friend Giammichele’s farmette in Tuscany. Lunch at Mario’s Trattoria in Firenze and Il Colosseo on Roma wasn’t too shabby either! Pictured at the Santa Maria del Fiore, the cathedral in Firenze which boasts Brunelleschi’s famous dome are Grant and Griffin who will attend Beacon Middle School this fall. They chose this particular paper with the American flags on the cover so they could show their patriotism and that of their community.
