The Cape Gazette visits the haunting ruins of Hitler’s bunker
December 31, 2025
Darryl McCauley of Lewes and West Chester, Pa., visited the Wolf’s Lair in Poland, where Hitler spent more than 800 days during World War II. Among the ruins are sites connected to the failed July 20, 1944, assassination attempt, later destroyed by the Nazis as Russian forces advanced. Darryl is shown here at the remains of Hitler’s bunker, one of the few structures still recognizable today. The sprawling forest complex offers a stark reminder of the scale and secrecy of Hitler’s wartime operations.
