Cape girls’ lax beats Padua and Dover at Champions Stadium

April 19, 2021

Cape girls’ lacrosse is coming off two fat stats in the scorebook games, beating Padua Academy 20-3 on April 15, then defeating Dover 20-4 on April 17.

Coaches on Saturday were not happy in the post-game messaging to their team. “You lost focus and played sloppy,” assistant coach Leigh Rupar told the girls. “We had three yellow cards, dropped too many passes and forced passes that weren’t there. The schedule is about to get a whole lot tougher.”

Cape plays at unbeaten Ursuline Academy on Monday (post deadline) before playing at Smyrna Wednesday, April 21, then at unbeaten Worcester Prep Saturday, April 24.

Cape goal scorers versus Padua were Carrie Clausius, Ella Rishko, Lulu Rishko and Molly Mendez with three goals each; Haley Craig and Riley Keen with two goals apiece; and single goals from Lauren Head, Emily Monigle, Lindsay D’Ambrogi and Maren Buckaloo.

Shannon Salerni, Delaney Witherell and Kiera McCormick each scored a goal for Padua.

In the Dover game, Clausius and Monigle each had four goals. Two goals each were scored by Ella Rishko, Buckaloo and Keen. Craig, Mendez, Head and Lindsay Rambo each scored one goal.

Superia Clark and Kyleigh Dill each scored two for Dover.

Regan Torbert had 13 saves for Dover.

Cape saves were Destiny Kusen with three and Anna Lopez with six.
