The Cape girls’ tennis team moved to 5-1 on the season with a 5-0 victory over Polytech April 20.
Vikings first singles player Maryann Tietbohl defeated Polytech’s Laura Lin Comollo 6-0, 6-1. Cape’s Yuxin He downed Melanie Huber 7-5, 6-3 at second singles, and Melanie McCloy defeated the Panthers’ Kara Bradl 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
The Vikings’ first doubles team of Marcella Sabbagh and Alyssa Spell defeated Poly’s Kayl Koenig and Halie Readores 6-3, 6-2, and the duo of Taylor Smith and Anna Harrington downed Polytech’s Raechel Aviles and Mi'Kyra Neal 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
In boys’ action, match wins were scored by Uly Slagle at third singles, Sam Luciano-Solomon and Colby Dominick at first doubles, and Luke Gladfelter and Dylan Kaplan at second doubles, as the Vikings prevailed 3-2 in Woodside.
The Cape boys were set to host Seaford Monday, April 23, while the girls traveled to Seaford to face the Blue Jays.
