Cape hockey shuts down Spartans 7-0 on 35 shots

Lake Forest goalies combine for 30 saves

The Cape hockey dogs were off the chain and running free Oct. 12 at Champions Stadium versus Lake Forest, unleashing 37 shots in an emphatic 7-0 victory. Cape improved to 8-1 on the season coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Delmar. 

Lake Forest dropped to 6-3.

“We have to play fast and with intensity, and that goes for every player every minute they are on the field,” coach Kate Austin said. “We’re a good team, but we need to be much better.” 

Spartans goalies Addyson Stewart (18) and Madison Lawson (12) played extraordinarily well, combining  for 30 saves.

Cape’s Morgan Newcomb and Anna Lopez did not face a single shot. 

Sophomore Lulu Rishko had the hat trick for the Vikings, also adding an assist. Mackinzie Brown scored twice, while single goals were scored by Kelly Bragg and Emma Duffield. 

Reagan Ciabattoni contributed two assists, while Hannah Maney added one.  

The JV game ended 2-2, as the Spartans scored with 7 seconds remaining to tie the game.

Cape goals were scored by Katie Cerf and Samantha Swift. 

Raegan Starkey and Madison Bergeron scored for Lake Forest.
