The Cape Junior League All-Stars used hot bats to down Woodbridge 13-1 in opening action of the District 3 All-Star Tournament June 26 at the Nanticoke Little League complex in Seaford.
Woodbridge scored its lone run in the first inning, but it could’ve been worse. Cape got out of a jam by collecting two outs during a double rundown.
It was all Cape starting in the second. The only thing that stopped the Cape bats was a 35-minute lightning delay in the fourth inning.
Anthony Brittingham led his squad with three RBIs. Hobby Ryan knocked in two, while Nick Petito, Jimmy Swatski, Jude Presler and Will Klemkowski each drove in a run.
Petito, Ryan, Brittingham, Swatski and Reed Knowlton each had multiple hits.
Swatski went 4.2 innings and picked up the win on the mound for Cape. Brittingham pitched the final out in relief.
Matthew Tyler, Dalton Kinsell and Ivan Matos each had a hit for Woodbridge.
The Cape squad will play the winner of the Laurel versus Mid-Sussex game that was suspended June 26. Cape’s next game is slated for Friday, June 28.
