Cape Region skimboarders shredded the competition at a Spanish skimboarding contest in September.

Dewey-based Skim USA’s team finished strong in the #3 Internacional Trafalgar Skimcontest in Cadiz, Spain, including a first-place finish in the sub-16 division for Dewey’s Ethan Redefer.

Redefer’s teammates Russell Sullivan, 20, of New Jersey, placed sixth in the professional division; Emma Okoniewski, 17, of Delaware, placed first in the women’s division; and Jack Lee, 16, of Delaware, earned third in the sub-16 division.

Ethan’s father, Justin Redefer, said Skim USA selects riders to represent the team for one year.

“Riders are selected for not only their performance during the tour, but off the beach as well,” Redefer said. “It’s a real honor to be selected.”
