May 2, 2025

The Cape girls’ soccer team handed Sussex Central a 3-0 loss May 1 at Cape’s Legends Stadium.

Kailey McMahon scored just two minutes into the game off a pass from Ava Brown. Lily Holodick followed with a tally from Lindsay Hassell at the 10-minute mark. Hassell hit the twine 15 minutes into the second half off a pass from McMahon to finish the scoring and move the Vikings’ record to 8-3.

“This was a great team win for us,” said coach Patrick Kilby. “It puts us at 4-1 in conference play and keeps us in the running for a possible Henlopen North championship run, if we can continue our winning ways.”

Cape keepers Brynne Fox  and Jordan Willey had one and two saves, respectively.

The 8-3 Vikings travel to Polytech Tuesday, May 6, to face the 7-2 Panthers.
