Cape swimming powers past Seaford

December 16, 2019

The boys’ and girls’ swim teams swept all 11 events on their way to 109-57 boys’ and 136-18 girls’ victories over Seaford Dec. 12 at the Sussex Family YMCA.

“I think the meet was beneficial for us because a lot of people swam different events than they’re used to,” said senior Anna Stancofski. “I think everyone did well, and now everyone has a better idea of events they’ll want to swim in the future.”

“Seaford had more numbers than in recent years,” said Cape head coach Bill Geppert. “Their coaches have done a good job of growing their program. This was a good meet for us to get times on lots of our swimmers, giving them a chance to show what they can do. We were impressed by how our boys continue to improve, but Central looms on the horizon. Their girls beat Tech and their boys also swam well against them. They will be a tough meet Thursday. Our girls are pushing themselves, and we look for them to continue to improve through the holidays.”

The Vikings will face Sussex Central Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Sussex Academy Aquatic Center.
