Cape girls’ tennis players haven’t lost a set so far in the 2026 season, as the Vikings continued the shutout streak against Seaford April 1, improving to 3-0 on the season.
First-singles player Julia DiSabatino and second-singles player Kennedy Spath each won their match 6-0, 6-0. Third-singles player Ida Molzahn downed Laura Charles 6-0, 6-3.
Cape’s doubles teams of Anika Sehgal Sekhri and Riti Patel and Mia Thompson and Madeleine Ruffcorn also recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories.
“Kudos to our doubles teams,” said Cape girls’ coach Jennifer Perdick. “Both had some great winning shots and beautiful serves. All our girls played their best.”
The Vikings’ boys’ squad also won April 1, earning a 4-1 victory over the Blue Jays.
Sullivan Naden defeated Djefley Joseph 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 in the second-singles match, while third-singles player Caidan Juliano defeated Dens Nero Augustin 6-0, 6-2. The first-doubles team of Michael Gordon and Ace Crandall defeated Josiah Smith and Noah Garcia 6-0, 6-1, and Cape’s second doubles of De'Angelo Jackson and Aiden Khalaf bested Bervendjy Bourdeau and Billguy Estime 6-1, 6-2.
“The guys played well across the board,” said boys’ coach Mike Roy. “Despite Nate [Hoang]'s loss to one of the stronger players in our conference, I thought he played very smart, patient points and was as consistent as we've ever seen him. It's also nice to see our doubles teams winning with three of the four guys new to the lineup.”
The Cape teams are off for spring break. When they return to action Tuesday, April 14, the boys’ team host Sussex Academy, while the girls will travel to Georgetown to take on the Seahawks.
