Cape unified basketball loses squeaker to Milford

January 19, 2026

The Cape unified basketball team lost a 46-45 barn burner to Milford Jan. 15.

“It was great to watch,” said Cape coach Katie Collick. “Both teams played with the spirit of the game in their minds and hearts the whole time. We saw some awesome stuff from players who really haven’t had much time on the court yet.”

The Vikings’ coach had kudos for her team and their opponent.

“Bobby Harmon-Strike had a great game of passing to teammates and finding his shot range to hit a couple buckets,” she said. “Austin Hastings also did a great job under the boards for us. We were down a few partners, so the seven we had did a great job helping the athletes run the floor and make great decisions.”

The score didn’t really matter to the players and coaches, as both squads played with the unified spirit.

“It was a great game,” said sophomore Luke Archer, who scored six points in the contest. “The team tried really hard. I love playing with my team.”

“Milford is a team we love to play and see everyone being successful,” Collick said. “We will see them at home in February, and I know it will be a great time.”

“We just play our game,” said junior unified partner Bennett Steinmann. “No matter if we win or lose, we come out with a smile on our face, and that’s the unified spirit of the game.”
