Cape volleyball tames Wildcats 3-0

September 25, 2025

After dropping a pair of tough 3-2 losses to Sussex Central and Newark Charter, the Cape volleyball team bounced back into the winning column with a 25-9, 25-5, 25-3 domination of Delmar Sept. 23 at the Cape gym.

“Tonight was the kind of match where we handled ourselves appropriately and efficiently,” said Cape coach Tyler Coupe. “We applied consistent service pressure and were able to get some easier first contacts from it, allowing [Kaylee Sockriter] and then Lindsey [Smith] to run our offense diversely.”

Sockriter led the Vikings with 19 assists and nine aces. Harper Mamele knocked down 10 kills and bumped five digs. Rylee Ockels bumped seven digs. McKenzie Everson had seven kills. Amara Fruchtman bumped eight digs.

“After coming off of a tough week with two relentless five-set matches, it was nice to get back into the swing of things,” Mamele said. “We were able to play our whole team, which was great for our morale, and were in control the entire time.”

“I think we went out onto the court with high intentions and we were able to keep our game in control,” said senior Mallory Terhune. “We served with a lot of precision, confidence and control, which really helped us gain and maintain our lead.”

After traveling to Saint Mark’s Sept. 25 (after deadline), the Vikings host Polytech at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 30.
