Cape/Georgetown Juniors keep it rolling

The Cape/Georgetown Junior All-Stars moved one step closer to the championship round of the East Regionals with a 5-1 win over Connecticut on Aug. 7 in Freehold, N.J.

Cape/Georgetown scored one run in the first inning, added two in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Kye Wells and Jonathan Stokley each went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nick Cox, Justin Marsh, Kenseth Taylor and Paris Mitchell each tallied a hit. 

Carter Breasure got the start on the mound, tossing four innings and allowing one run on four hits. He struck out two and walked two. Timmy Hitchcock tossed two innings and struck out four.

Cape/Georgetown is right back at it with their second game of the day against New Jersey at 2 p.m., Aug. 7. The winner advances to the championship round against Pennsylvania. 

Dominating win over New York

Cape/Georgetown stayed alive in the East Regional with a dominating 11-1 win over New York on Aug. 6 in Freehold, N.J.

Cape/Georgetown opened scoring in the first inning on an RBI from Mikey Jarrell. The squad added four runs in the fourth inning. 

Cape/Georgetown was able to preserve their pitching in the dominating win, with Jarrell tossing 2.2 innings and Hitchcock and Kenseth Taylor combining for the final 2.1 innings. 

Mitchell ended the day 1-for-2 with three RBIs, a run scored and a walk. Jarrell was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a run scored and a walk. Cape/Georgetown combined for eight hits and 11 walks.
