Car catches fire near Long Neck

A car caught fire July 20 along a roadway near Long Neck.
Indian River Volunteer Fire Company firefighters were called about 3:30 p.m. for a vehicle fire on Indian Mission Road and Fishermans Road, north of Route 24, and found a black Audi sedan fully engulfed in flames. Officials said the Audi was traveling north on Indian Mission Road when it caught on fire, sputtering with flames visible. The car eventually stopped near a utility pole and utility lines, officials said, and occupants got out of the car. No one was injured.
Delaware State Fire Police closed Indian Mission Road and coordinated traffic control during the incident, and police are investigating.
No one was injured in the car fire, but officials were concerned about nearby utility lines.
