Caring team makes Beebe a better place for patients

May 3, 2022

I arrived March 22 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes because I was having trouble breathing. The team at Beebe diagnosed me with a blood clot in my left heart ventricle. They also told me I had fluid around my heart.

I was shocked and scared. No one wants to hear their heart is in trouble, but the team at Beebe was immediately on top of my care in every way. Not only was I treated medically, but they also really stepped up and calmed my nerves. The medications and procedures were clearly explained to me, and that clarity really gave me faith in their care. I can’t say enough about everyone’s professionalism and kindness.

I was at Beebe for several days, and the excellent care I was receiving continued. My friend Angelo Giordano, who works at Nicola Pizza, came to visit me and was so moved by my confidence in my team and how well I was being cared for that he brought Nicola Pizza to them before I was discharged. It was wonderful to feel that his act of kindness was appreciated by the whole team who was caring for me.

Although I am thankful for everyone who cared for me during my stay at Beebe, I want to give special thanks to the following folks because they were fantastic, knowledgeable and very professional while working with me. I felt even more comfortable when these employees were on duty and assigned to my room. Aimee Carter, Bridgette Blatzheim, Brittany Grandboise, Dana Morris, Caitlin Owens, Chris Miller, Mary-Alice Carlyle, Amanda Fluharty, Aysia Banks and Paiton Murray in Intensive Care – thank you all for being personable, kind, calm and caring. You are the best!

I was discharged from Beebe April 1 and am now on the heart transplant list at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Although my diagnosis was not ideal, I would not have fared as well as I have without the care I received from the team at Beebe. Please let the individuals I've named here know that they make Beebe Healthcare a better place for patients!
