Carole Joan Lynch Jorgensen, loved animals, music
Carole Joan Lynch Jorgensen, 80, of Milton, formerly of Charlotte, N.C., and Wonder Lake, Ill., passed away suddenly in her home Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Born June 1, 1944, in Queens, N.Y., Carole was the beloved daughter of the late Earl and Eva Lynch of Wonder Lake.
Carole was a woman of great determination and compassion with a deep love for all animals. She had a special love for her adopted cats, Effie and Cleo, and granddogs, Layla and Noelani. She grew up in Manhattan, N.Y., and Chicago, Ill., and always had an appreciation for city life, even though she loved her recent move to small-town living in Milton. She attended Macalester College and later earned her master’s degree in sociology from University of Delaware. She worked for both the State of Delaware and Mecklenburg County, N.C., as a social worker in the 1980s. Later in life, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service in North Carolina as a rural route carrier before retiring to Illinois. In her free time, she loved to travel and was an avid birder, often combining her trips with birding adventures. Carole was also a trained pianist and loved all kinds of music, both listening and performing - a trait she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a voracious reader, especially of mysteries. She enjoyed going to the library and all the activities that Milton library offered, and the CHEER Center in Milton.
Carole is survived by her daughters, Kirsten Brown (Domenico Salvi) of Milton and Ericka Jorgensen of Tacoma, Wash.; her grandsons, Michael Boyd (Kat Mason) and David Boyd (Tiziana Sulit); and was especially proud of her great-granddaughter, Lily Faye Boyd. She will also be missed by her nephew, David Mayhew and his wife Shar Mayhew. Carole was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Willa Jorgensen Church; and her grandson, Trevor Church.
A Celebration of Carole's Life will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, May 31, at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton.
