Celebrating 50 years of love and adventure in Alaska with the Cape Gazette

Dave and Cathy Hartman marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Alaska.

The high-school sweethearts, married at 20, have three children and four grandchildren who visit often and share their fondness for the Cape Region and the Cape Gazette. Even during months-long travels, the Hartmans have the paper forwarded to stay connected to home.

Dave and Cathy are shown here holding the Cape Gazette at the port of Sitka. Historically, Sitka was known as New Archangel in the 1800s and served as the capital of Russian America from 1808 until Juneau became Alaska’s capital in 1906.
