Charleen ‘Sherry’ Griemsman, retired nurse

August 27, 2025

Charleen Griemsman, fondly known as ‘Sherry,’ passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, in Milford.

Sherry grew up in Beach Haven, N.J., and lived in Virginia and Cape Cod, Mass., before moving to Rehoboth Beach in 2001. She worked as a stockbroker and assistant to the publisher for the Washington Star newspaper before finding her true calling as a registered nurse. She dedicated over 40 years to nursing and achieved advanced certification as a Registered Emergency Nurse and a Critical Care Registered Nurse. Sherry was also a volunteer EMS lieutenant and EMT-Cardiac with the Bailey’s Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department in Virginia.

Sherry truly loved life. She loved to listen to a variety of music, from classical to pop tunes from the ‘70s, and attend concerts and musical theater. She also loved to cheer for the Orioles and Shorebirds. She was a voracious reader and a member of a local book club. She cared for everyone, from strangers on the roadside to her closest family members. The unconditional love and support she gave throughout her life were immense, and she will be missed in more ways than one.

Sherry is survived by her devoted husband, Glenn Luedtke; stepdaughters, Deborah and Wendy; step-granddaughters, Eliza and Maddy; her brother, Rick and sister-in-law Sharon; her beloved nephew, Charles; and her German Shepherd, Mira.

In keeping with her wishes, services will be private.

In her memory, share a favorite book with a friend or family member, try a new recipe, and pay it forward with kindness to all.

In lieu of flowers, consider donating to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org/donate, or Brandywine Valley SPCA in Georgetown, bvspca.org/donate/donation-form.
