Charles ‘Buck’ Parker, Perdue retiree

Charles “Buck” Parker, 60, of Pittsville, Md., passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Rhonda Murray and son-in-law Scott of Dagsboro, with his children at his side.

Charles devoted his life to work and family. He was a 1968 graduate of Millsboro High School. He spent 20 years in carpentry and also as a poultry farmer. His past 20 years he worked for Perdue Grain and Feed Mill. He retired in November 2010, due to his illness. He will be remembered for his 20 years of marriage to the now Kathy Austin, and her siblings: William Jones, Jenny Jones and Nancy Smith, all of whom remained in his life. He attended the Gumboro Wesleyan Church.

He was saved on April 28, 1957. He enjoyed daily visits with his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow. When not working, he loved to watch harness racing with his friends. His illness led to being in home and looking forward to phone calls to keep him informed on all the college football, basketball and all time favorite Westerns.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents Dale Parker Sr. and Eliza Fisher and her husband Charles. He is also preceded by a brother, Homer Dennis; sister, Irma Jean Truitt; and a sister-in-law, Donna Rae Parker. Charles was a loving father to his two daughters, Penny Thoroughgood and her husband Frank of Frankford and Rhonda Murray and her husband Scott of Dagsboro. He adored his two granddaughters, Hannah Gray and Katelyn Murray, both of Dagsboro. He is also survived by a brother Dale (Duke) Parker of Willards, Md.; brother-in-law Jack Truitt of Willards; nephews Dale Wayne Parker and Leroy Dennis; nieces, Heather Mumford and Tammy Donaway; uncles Daniel Parker and his wife Barbara and Pitch Parker and his wife Liz. He is also survived by many extended Family members and friends.

A Celebration of his life will be held at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, at noon, Friday, April 1, where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor David Souder will officiate. Interment will follow at Carey’s Cemetery in Millsboro.
