CHEF distributes donated school supplies

Caravan of Caring visits all Cape schools
September 4, 2019

For the second year, the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation’s partnership with local businesses is helping to stock the supply shelves of all the district’s teachers.

CHEF Administrative Manager Ashley Reynolds said the Caravan of Caring school supply drive is intended to help district homeless and low-income students who come to school without paper, notebooks, pencils and other necessary supplies.

The caravan stopped by all Cape schools Aug. 23, when teachers lined up to select items to support their students throughout the school year.

Supplies were donated by community members and dropped off at County Bank, Schell Brothers and Lefty’s Alley & Eats.

Program sponsors included St. Edmond’s Catholic Parish; Schell Brothers; Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty; Seashore Striders; Johnson Orthodontics; Lefty’s Alley and Eats; Union of Body, Mind and Soul; and Ladies of Pilottown Reserve.
