Lewes in Bloom hosted its annual Ladybug Day celebration July 19, at the Children’s Learning Garden in Stango Park.
About 70 children and their families arrived at 10:30 a.m. to pick vegetables, engage in arts and crafts and learn about Delaware’s state insect before releasing more than 3,000 live ladybugs.
The garden is hosts activities for children on Mondays and Fridays through August. Volunteers play music, set up arts and crafts, arrange cooking activities and organize garden-inspired story hours.

Volunteer Sonny DeEmedio, right, passes off a full watering can while his brother, Arlo, fills more cans with a hose.

If there were a Best Dressed contest, Lewes in Bloom volunteer Marilyn Vai would take the top prize.
