Christy Moriarty named assistant dean of instruction at Delaware Tech
Delaware Tech Owens recently announced the appointment of Christy Moriarty as the assistant dean of instruction. She joined the staff of the Owens Campus in 1996 as an adjunct instructor in the radiologic technology program and accepted a full-time position in 2002. Five years later, Moriarty was promoted to department chair of the same program, and in 2009 also became department chair of the new diagnostic medical sonography program.
She led the effort to achieve national accreditation for DMS and maintain accreditation for radiologic technology. Under her leadership, the program curricula was revised and aligned in accordance with accrediting agency standards. She also was instrumental in creating and maintaining affiliation agreements with local hospitals for clinical education and established partnerships for funding new laboratory equipment.
Moriarty earned an associate degree in radiologic technology from Hagerstown Community College, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Salisbury University, and a master of education from Wilmington University. She is also a graduate of Delaware Tech’s Leadership Development Program and now serves as a mentor for the program.
She resides in Millsboro with her husband and two children.
