Cindy Lou Shaffer, devout Christian

Cindy Lou Shaffer, 64, of Lewes passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at her home.  She was born in Lewes June 26, 1957, daughter of the late Curtis and Helen (Moore) Emerick.

Cindy was the owner and operator of Shaffer’s Service for over 40 years, where she managed daily operations and was a bicycle mechanic.  She had many interests and hobbies, including riding bicycles, going to the beach, and watching western movies.

Cindy was a devout and sincere Christian, and one could always find her singing and humming old hymns.  She served God with a glad and selfless heart. 

Cindy always looked forward to trips to Hyndman, Pa., where she frequently visited the many aunts, uncles and cousins who resided there.  She cherished and dearly loved her family, both near and far, who were the great joy of her life. Cindy was a loving and devoted mother, sister and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Cindy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, Harold Shaffer; her sister-in-law, Paula Emerick; and her brothers-in-law, Victor Shaffer and Dale Shaffer.  She is survived by her sons:  Matthew Shaffer and Nathan Shaffer, both of Lewes; her brothers:  Duwayne Emerick of Lewes and Paul Emerick and his wife Holly of Georgetown; her sisters-in-law, Anne Shaffer and Kathy Shaffer, and her brother-in-law, Eston Shaffer and his wife Jane.

A funeral service will be held Monday, July 19, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow at 2 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
