Civic participation at its finest

August 4, 2023

Lights, camera, action. Stage: Lewes City Hall. As the camera rolls, Carly Simon can be heard singing in the background, "Nobody does it better, makes me feel sad for the rest, nobody does it half as good as you, baby, you're the best,” as the story unfolds in council chambers during a workshop. Carly's lyrics keep repeating “you're the best” as Ric Moore steps up to speak, followed by Kevin McGuiness. It’s civic participation at its finest – showing up, standing up and speaking up – lightly shaken, not stirred, tumbling out improved accountability and transparency. To those who did not attend, please google City of Lewes website and hit on agendas and minutes, scroll to July 27, 2023, mayor and city council workshop, and witness two brilliant men articulate a viewpoint that will enhance this town’s responsibility to its citizens. The ball now lies with our elected officials. Please do not double dribble. Thank you, Ric and Kevin.
