Clemens Robinson of Troop 95 achieves Eagle Scout rank
Clemens H. Robinson, a member of Boy Scout Troop 95, passed his Eagle Board of Review in March. His project was building a community garden at Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
The project was well received by the congregation and the community. The church members have harvested peppers, tomatoes, string beans, lettuce and much more, sharing their bounty with the community.
Clemens was recognized June 10 at his Eagle ceremony for his accomplishments as a scout and completion of his project. Georgetown Presbyterian Church Pastor Lisa Salita provided the invocation. Scoutmaster Ben Ables was the MC and introduced Clemens. His grandmother, the Hon. Battle Robinson, was keynote speaker.
The ceremony format selected by Clemens was Scouting’s Code of Conduct, which covers all the promises a scout commits to from Tiger to Eagle Scout. Dante Tapia, Troop 95 Eagle Scout Class of 2022, presented the Eagle challenge. Rob Robinson, Clemens’ father, Troop 95 Eagle Scout Class of 1987, presented the Eagle Scout oath to his son. Clemens is Troop 95’s 97th Eagle Scout and the first second-generation Eagle Scout for the troop.
Following the presentations of the Eagle badge, neckerchief, Eagle cords to wear at graduation, father’s tie tack, and mother’s pin along with a dozen red roses, Clemens was presented with the Eagle certificate from the National Boy Scout Office and the Eagle Plaque from Troop 95. His name has been added to both the Eagle Plaque that hangs in the hallway at Wesley United Methodist Church and the Eagle banner. Once all the presentations were done, the podium was turned over to Clemens for his reflections. Following his speech, it was time for fellowship and refreshments.
Clemens earned 30 merit badges, including the 15 specific badges mandatory to be eligible for Eagle rank. He received a Bronze Palm for earning additional merit badges over the required number of 21. He held several positions of responsibility, camped every month with the troop and attended summer camp every year at Camp Horseshoe. In June 2021, he participated in the high adventure canoe trek where he, along with 10 other scouts and two leaders, canoed 120 miles of the Au Sable River in northern Michigan. In June 2022, Clemens, along with 11 other scouts and four leaders, backpacked a 50-mile section of the Appalachian Trail.
Clemens is currently a student at St. Andrew’s School and a member of the graduating class of 2024. The troop extends congratulations to Clemens on all of his accomplishments and wishes him the best of luck after graduation.
