Coach Mark Duncan brings GameBreaker Lacrosse camp to Beacon

Camps held for fifth year at Delaware beaches
July 26, 2019

Mark Duncan brought his GameBreaker Lacrosse camp to the beach for the fifth consecutive year July 22- 25, meeting at Beacon Middle School from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Duncan has been the head coach and athletic director at the Shipley School on the Philadelphia Main Line the last 18 years.

In March on a team spring swing through Florida, Duncan notched his 200th career victory. Duncan’s 18-year record is 200-117, which includes winning six Friends League Championships.

Duncan was on a state championship team at Ward Melville High School on Long Island in 1992, then went to Lehigh, where he became one of the leading scorers in the nation and Patriot League Player of the Year. He is still Lehigh’ s all-time leading scorer.

Anna Frederick had been the lead coach and counselor for Delaware GameBreaker Lacrosse. Frederick played four years for Temple University and is Cape’s career leader in total goals with 210.

Last season, Anna completed her first year as a full-time teacher at the Sussex Consortium and was an assistant coach with the state championship field hockey and lacrosse teams.

The boys’ lead coaches for GameBreaker this summer were rising seniors Luke Grayum of the Shipley School and Lukas Sinon of Episcopal Academy of Philadelphia.

Grayum is a verbal commit to Richmond University, while Sinon has committed to Division III power Dennison.

The beach weather has moved from sweltering to wet and ended with two days or perfect weather featuring low humidity and no flies.

“Lacrosse is such a tight community – coach Mark knows everybody,” Frederick said. “And every kid who steps on the field for our camp gets attention, and they all seem to know people in the lacrosse world.”

There are GameBreaker Lacrosse camps all over the country. Duncan has fallen back to working mainly Pennsylvania plus one week at the Delaware shore followed by a week’s family vacation.
