Coastal Camera Club to host photographer talks Feb. 27-28

January 27, 2021

In lieu of its in-person Photo Beach Bash conference, the Coastal Camera Club will hold virtual speaker events at 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27 and 28.

Illustrated by inspiring photographs from around the world, the Heart of the Photograph virtual lecture with David duChemin is set for Feb. 27.

In his 90-minute conversation, duChemin will discuss 10 powerful ideas about creating engaging photographs. This webinar will explore techniques and ways of thinking about composing images designed to engage human imagination and emotion, including questions of vision and intent, and use of space and time, depth, and point of view. He also will discuss mood and mystery, storytelling, and more practical considerations like creative use of exposure tools, composition and more. As part of the Heart of the Photograph virtual lecture, duChemin will provide a link to free downloads of two of his best-selling eBooks.

Putting More Emotion into your Wildlife Photographs with Kristi Odom is set for Feb. 28.

Odom’s  years of photographing personal projects and conservation work have taught her a unique way of seeing emotion, and forever changed how she approaches photographing wildlife.  Animals have different ways of showing and expressing emotion. How does a photographer take an emotion and make it two-dimensional? How does a photographer get people to connect and feel when they look at an image? Participants will learn tips and tricks on how to put more emotion into their wildlife photography, ultimately creating a more impactful image.

As part of her talk, Odom will raffle off one signed print, and award a private portfolio review of work via Zoom to one lucky winner.

The talks will be free of charge to the first 500 people who register. To sign up, go to CoastalCameraClub.com.
