Coastal Concerts scholarship winners to present classical recital Sept. 25

A concert highlighting the extraordinary talents of seven recent winners of Coastal Concerts’ Music Scholarship Award will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware Church, 30486 Lewes Georgetown Highway, west of Lewes.

Performing in this year’s concert are violinists Maxwell Brown of Wilmington Friends School, Annabelle Wei of Sanford School, and McKayla Hwang from Cab Calloway School of the Arts; flutists Ava Hoang and L. Williams, both of Beacon Middle School; and pianists Isabelle Bruening from Cab Calloway School of the Arts and Nathan Hoang of Beacon Middle School. Admission is free to the public.

The concert is sure to offer an extraordinary Sunday afternoon of talented local students performing world-class classical music. The concert will also serve as a prelude to Coastal Concerts’ 2022-23 season, which will begin Saturday, Oct. 22, with outstanding pianist Amy Yang. Coastal Concerts is a premier presenter of classical music in Lewes that since 2002 has sponsored an annual music scholarship program as part of its outreach initiative. During that time, the organization has awarded more than $51,000 in scholarships to 56 middle and high school students living on Delmarva. Concert attendees will have the opportunity to meet these young rising-star musicians and support Coastal Concerts’ Scholarship Program.
