Coastal Concerts volunteer Maestro Roman Pawlowski honored
The Delaware County Symphony in Pennsylvania honored Maestro Roman Pawlowski, its former music director, during its 50th anniversary concert held Dec. 5.
While Pawlowski was musical director of DCS from 1969 to 2009, he performed the same role with the Newark Symphony Orchestra from 1983 to 2009, and conducted the Immaculata Symphony from 1986 to 2007 and the Young People’s String Orchestra of Baltimore from 1994 to 2001.
Not completely satisfied with making music himself, Pawlowski extended his offerings to teaching young people how best to make music. In his role as educator, Pawlowski has been on the faculty of Immaculata University, Rosemont College and Neumann University, and held choral and orchestral conducting positions at the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia Musical Academy. He also chaired the Music Department at the Haverford School in Pennsylvania for 12 years.
Now residing in Milford, Pawlowsk is a longtime volunteer for Coastal Concerts. He is a former member of the board, and continues as a premier member of its programming committee.
