Long Neck UMC free lunch June 12

Long Neck United Methodist Church will serve a free lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers with sides from noon to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 12. Everyone is welcome. Long Neck UMC is at 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro.

Leap Frog 50K/100K bike tour set June 12

The Downstate Delaware Striders & Riders will host the Leap Frog 50K/100K Bicycle Tour beginning at 8 a.m., Saturday, June 12.

The non-competitive cycling event offers a unique look at the beautiful ponds of central and lower Delaware with both 32-mile and 63-mile course options starting and ending at Lake Forest High School in Felton. 

Registration is $25. Check-in begins at 7 a.m. the day of the event and same-day registration will be available. The registration fee includes a cue sheet, marked course, food and drink stops, and tech shirts for the first 100 cyclists to sign up.

Support vehicles will patrol the course through 2 p.m. Helmets are required and COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place.

SoDel Cares 5K set June 12 in Rehoboth

The third annual SoDel Cares 5K Run/Walk will take place at the Thompson Island Brewery, 30133 Veterans Way, Rehoboth Beach Saturday, June 12. The 5K starts at 8:30 a.m. 

The event is sponsored by the SoDel Concepts restaurant group with proceeds going to SoDel Cares, which donates money to local organizations that assist children, at-risk youth and the elderly. 

The primary goal is to contribute in a positive way to the local communities where SoDel has its restaurants. 

Registration is open at www.races2run.com. Runners and walkers will be treated to food and a Thompson Island beer after the race, for those who are 21 or older. They also will receive an event T-shirt. 

Awards are all based on chip time and include overall male and female and masters and top three in 10-year age groups.

UUSD to meet June 13

The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will hold an online worship service at 10 a.m., Sunday, June 13, celebrating the music of UUSD. All are welcome to view the service on UUSD's Facebook Page. For more information, go to uussd.org.

Welcome to Medicare webinars set June 14

Delaware Medicare Assistance Bureau will host Welcome to Medicare seminars at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday, June 14. Many people who join Medicare have questions and concerns about their new, different type of health insurance. Important deadlines are in place for certain benefits. 

New and soon-to-be beneficiaries can meet with professional staff and learn about Medicare benefits, supplemental insurance policies, Medicare Advantage plans and prescription drug coverage. Space is limited.

Antique Tractor Club to meet June 15

The First State Antique Tractor Club will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, at the Greenwood VFW on the corner of Governors Avenue and Mill Street in Greenwood. Plans for the 20th annual show will be finalized for Friday to Sunday, June 25 to 27, at the Laurel Farmers Auction Market, Laurel. New club business will also be discussed. Light refreshments will be served. The club always welcomes new members. As government restrictions and continuing concerns about the spread of coronavirus begin to ease, many area facilities that host recovery program meetings are starting to reopen, but not all. Those who are dealing with alcohol-related substance use issues and need support can find up-to-date information and resources at sussexaa.org.
