Community quilting bee canceled

Quilts of Love’s planned community quilting bee has been canceled due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.

Milford Ladybug Festival canceled

Downtown Milford Inc. and Gable Music Ventures have decided to cancel the Milford Ladybug Festival previously set for Saturday, Oct. 2. Since the event is open and free to attend, it’s not possible to check vaccination status or recent COVID tests, or support social distancing. For the safety of everyone involved, organizers will suspend the event until 2022.

Ice cream social at Holy Spirit Anglican Sept. 10

Holy Spirit Anglican Church will host an ice cream social from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 10. Attendees can enjoy delicious ice cream, play games and enjoy community fellowship. Holy Spirit is located at 28842 Log Cabin Hill Road, Lewes. To learn more, go to holyspiritanglican-de.org.

Unitarian Universalists to hold online service Sept. 12

The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will hold online Sunday services only at 10 a.m., Sept. 12, livestreamed on the UUSD website, uussd.org. What We Hold On To is the topic. The Rev. Heather Rion Starr said, “As we reflect upon our own experiences and journeys in the 20 years since Sept. 11, 2001, we will also consider the ways that we inherit, store and process trauma in our bodies. What is ours to keep working with? What can we let go?”

Family Promise to meet in Lewes Sept. 14

Family Promise of Southern Delaware will host a community meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, in the fellowship hall of Lewes Presbyterian Church, Kings Highway, Lewes. The agenda will include a presentation on a HUMI grant received, an update on efforts to become operational by year's end, and a meet-and-greet social time with the board. Home of Brave veteran outreach set Sept. 14

The Home of the Brave in Milford will provide mobile outreach services on a monthly basis to serve and support veterans who do not have the means, mobility or mental focus to physically access benefits and other services available that would improve the quality of their lives. Home of the Brave plans to delver one-on-one outreach that identifies support to satisfy individual veterans’ needs. The first outreach will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, at the VA outpatient clinic, 653 South Bay Road, Dover. Lunch will be available. Rehoboth-Dewey Chamber meets Sept. 14

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce will meet at 12 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Kings Creek Country Club, Rehoboth. 

The guest speaker will be Jennifer Cohan, CEO of Leadership Delaware. During the luncheon, the chamber will recognize members for their decades of continued business including Nicola Pizza, Ad Boat, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Gallo Realty, Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, and more.

Tax planning in retirement program set Sept. 16
