County Bank to provide YMCA summer camp scholarships to local youth

August 12, 2015

The Sussex Family YMCA announces a partnership with County Bank that will afford the opportunity for community youth to attend summer camp. County Bank has awarded funding for an annual scholarship to send a Sussex County youth to Camp Tockwogh, the YMCA of Delaware’s overnight camp in Worton, Md.

Camp Tockwogh fosters healthy living and social responsibility through the development of independence, confidence, lifelong learning and character in youth, teens and families. Tockwogh is a spectacular, rural camp on 309 well-preserved acres spread over a mile and a half of Chesapeake Bay shoreline. Each year, the YMCA serves over 5,000 participants in a variety of programs.

“There is a great need in our community for camp opportunities that enrich and ultimately change the lives of children. We are very grateful to County Bank for helping us make this experience a reality for children in our community,” said Lauri Weeks, executive director of the Sussex Family YMCA.

There will be an application process for potential scholarship recipients, and applications will be available beginning Jan. 1, 2016. Submissions will need to be received by the Sussex Family YMCA by the end of March 2016 for consideration. County Bank and the YMCA will work together to select a child for the upcoming camp season.
