Cruising the Mediterranean aboard the Sirena with the Cape Gazette

January 18, 2020

Rick and Ruth Ann Dressel of Rehoboth Beach spent 14 beautiful October days in the Mediterranean on Oceania’s cruise ship, Sirena.

Starting from Barcelona, they explored Marseille and Cannes (France), Monte Carlo (Monaco), Florence, Pisa, Rome, Vatican City, Pompeii and Herculaneum (Italy), Corfu (Greece), Kotor (Montenegro), Dubrovnik (Croatia) ending in Venice (Italy).

Crystal blue water, riding switch-back 18’ roads on 2000’ mountains in a 40’ bus, walking centuries-old fortresses, famous paintings, sculptures and the grandeur and opulence of the many churches won’t soon be forgotten.

“Unfortunately, we leave disasters in our wake,” said Rick. “Hawaii 2018, a volcano we visited, erupted; Alaska 2018, an earthquake hit Anchorage where we stayed; and this time Venice, our last stop, flooded. Next stop, Tokyo 2020 Olympics with the Gazette!”
