Cruising the Mississippi River aboard the American Queen with the Cape Gazette
On April 1, members of St. Jude the Apostle Church Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group began a Road Scholar trip, an American not-for-profit organization that provides educational travel programs primarily geared to older adults. The trip began by spending three fun days in New Orleans. Then the ladies spent eight more days aboard the American Queen paddlewheel steamboat enjoying music, food, history and sightseeing while cruising the Mississippi River to Memphis. They stayed up to date with news back home by reading the editions of the Gazette they had brought along. Shown from (l-r) are Betty Hawkins, Nancy Hoffman, Linda Bowen, Helen Marrama, Janet Clear and Jane Brugger.
