September 29, 2023

Before he passed away suddenly May 8, Peter E. Carter had made plans for a book signing event featuring his autobiographical books of his life journey from age 2 to 77, titled, “A Black First,” and the sequel, “A Black First: The Blackness Continues.”

His daughter, Dr. Elizabeth Carter, will honor his desire to meet residents of the Cape Region and share the story of his life from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7, at at Browesabout Books, 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

Carter served on the board of Delaware Botanic Gardens and previously held leadership roles in two homeowners’ associations. He had been a volunteer in local elementary schools and served as an expert witness/consultant for several New Jersey law firms. Carter was selected to serve on the board of the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation. He also wrote a semi-monthly column for the Cape Gazette newspaper in Lewes.
