Decked Out benefits Delaware Center for the Inland Bays
The Delaware Center for the Inland Bays’ Decked Out fundraiser netted $28,000 for the organization, which is devoted to improving the environmental health of the Indian River, Rehoboth and Little Assawoman bays in Sussex County. The 32 acres of waterways drain 320 acres of land, including some of the most developed areas in eastern Sussex. Established in 1994, the nonprofit organization works with many partners to preserve, protect and restore Delaware’s Inland Bays and their watershed.
The Sept. 21 event at the Lighthouse Cove Event Center in Dewey Beach included live music, live and silent auctions, food and Inland Bays oysters, with the sunset over Rehoboth Bay serving as a backdrop. Proceeds benefit the center’s efforts through science-based research, restoration, education, outreach, public policy and advocacy.
Fundraising events like Decked Out play a vital role in the community involvement it takes to complete projects and provide educational opportunities at James Farm Ecological Preserve near Ocean View.
