Decorating pro recommends simple holiday lighting displays

December 6, 2019

Outdoor decorating professional Mike Gray of Christmas Decor by G.M.G. Inc., a franchise member of the Christmas Decor network in Lewes, reminds property owners that time is growing short for them to complete, or even begin, their outdoor holiday lighting and decorating chores.

For those last-minute décor warriors, the key to a creating a glowing holiday look, according to Gray, is to focus on creating maximum impact with minimal effort.

“Holiday decorating displays go up in stores earlier every year, and it’s tempting to buy the latest looks. But once you go through the lights and decorations you already own, you may discover you already have everything you need to make your home feel warm and welcoming this holiday season,” said Gray.

Gray offers some outdoor decorating guidelines from the pros at Christmas Decor to get folks started.

1. Find a décor focal point. Stand back and take a look at the home from a neighbor’s or visitor’s point of view. Is the front porch a stand-out feature, or is the door the star of the show? Is there a perfect line of shrubs or a nicely-shaped tree along the path that welcomes guest? Identify a  home’s most attractive features and dress them for the holidays with garlands, greenery and lights.

2. Complete the look. If there is enough time look for ways to enhance other areas of the yard and home to compliment the focal point design. Simply outlining windows or rooflines can extend the holiday glow across a home, and subtle hints of color can add interest and depth to the plan.

3. Keep décor simple. Reduce stress and improve  results by keeping the outdoor holiday display simple and classic. Too many themes and colors will detract from the focal point and confuse the overall impression. A clean, uncluttered display is more attractive, safer and more cost-effective.

“For many of us, the holidays seem like they are way out in the future, until suddenly, they’re here,” said Gray. “If decorating your home each year is more stressful than joyful, it might be time to call in the experts. Our holiday décor specialists do more than design and install amazing holiday displays that fit your vision and your budget. We also use exclusive professional-grade lighting and décor options not available to the everyday consumer, maintain your display throughout the holidays, and remove and store the lights and décor when the holidays are over. It’s a full-service solution that frees up your time to enjoy the whole holiday season, including the time before and after.”

With the holidays fast approaching, property owners who are considering using a professional holiday decorating service need to act quickly. “It’s not too late to decorate,” said Gray, “but the earlier you call, the earlier your home or business will be shining with the spirit of the holidays.”
