DelDOT begins installation of new traffic signal in Milton

June 26, 2025

The Delaware Department of Transportation has begun installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Route 16 and Mulberry Street in Milton.

While the signal is not yet active, the infrastructure to put the light in has been in place for some time, with the project delayed by utility relocation work.

The need for a traffic signal at what has long been a difficult intersection was exacerbated by the death of a 74-year-old Ellendale woman June 6, when the victim’s car drifted out past the stop signs and was struck by a Sussex County EMS vehicle that was responding to an emergency call.
