DelDOT needs to fix Route 1 safety

June 9, 2023

I have been reading the letters in the Cape Gazette, including the one submitted by Keith Misener. I agree wholeheartedly that we need the median barriers that are already in other parts of DelawareAre we not entitled to them also

We need change in Sussex County to keep drivers safe

Speed is such a factor on Route 1, no matter where you are traveling. Cars go by you like you’re standing still. How about cameras, signs letting drivers know about their speed and drones, are they an option

Summer is fast approaching and we need answers now, not more accidents and deaths

Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach also needs updated turn lanes! Illegal turns are happening every day. Let's mark them with paint and arrows that drivers can see as to where they are to go, and also signs and more cameras. At almost every intersection with turn lanes, things are done illegally, and this has to be corrected

Also, in the Cape Gazette it was noted by a letter writer that Route 1 is the wild west. Today, I rename it because of a crotch rocket motorcycle that sped by me and others going at least 100 mph. The Indy 500 speedway

Come on, DelDOT and Sussex County!
