Dewey Beach Civic League welcomes new board members
The Dewey Beach Civic League recently announced the unanimous election of two new board members.
Longtime Dewey property owner Kay Miller joined the board in August. She has spent 62 summers in Dewey Beach, where she and her husband Ken operated the Little Store on Read Avenue. During the rest of the year, she was a teacher of health and family counseling science in Cecil County, Maryland, and coached field hockey. Kay’s family, the Eisenbreys, owned two hotels in Dewey during its early years. The Millers are now retired and enjoy spending time with their six grandchildren.
Susan Macey is a relatively new Dewey Beach property owner on Saulsbury Street. She has had an illustrious career as a licensed clinician working in a variety of mental health settings. She utilizes her experience in organizational development and training to bring about effective change. Macey is the author of the 2018 book, “Keep Weight off Forever,” from KDP Publishing. She and her husband Paul have four children and three grandchildren.
“My kids first turned me on to Dewey after they all experienced senior beach week here,” said Macey. “I fell in love with the friendliness of the people and the laid-back atmosphere. I love the back bay for paddling with my dog, and walking a few steps to the beach to hang out and play with family and friends.”
Diane Hanson, DBCL president, said the board was pleased to have these two talented and experienced professionals join the board to help the organization achieve its goals to make Dewey Beach an even better place to live and have fun.
