Dewey Beach Lions Club bestows special award

The Dewey Beach Lions Club presented several awards at its February membership meeting.

King Lion Ernie Felici Jr. had the honor of presenting his father Ernie Felici Sr. with the Dewey Beach Lions Club Award for Outstanding Service.

Felici Sr. continues to have a positive impact within the club and the community by handling the group’s internal and external marketing. “It’s an honor to be of service to the Dewey Beach Lions Club and even more special to receive this unexpected award from my son,” he said.

The Dewey Beach Lions Club continues to provide support for local families in need by constructing wheelchair ramps and providing loans of wheelchairs, eyeglasses, hearing aids and other ambulatory equipment. The club also provides scholarships and contributions to many Sussex County nonprofits.

The club also owns and maintains the John Waples Memorial Playground in Dewey Beach which offers fun for kids of all ages including equipment to climb, slide and swing on, plus clean indoor bathrooms.
