Dewey mayor meets TV anchor Bruce Johnson at Michy's

Dewey Beach Mayor TJ Redefer and wife Bobbi were seated at a table in Michy's in Rehoboth Beach Aug. 20 when veteran Washington TV anchor Bruce Johnson and his wife Lori were placed at the table next to them.

As often happens at Michy’s, the couples immediately struck up a conversation, and they even ordered the same two dishes.

As this classic small-world scenario revealed, Bobbi Redefer, who is originally from Washington, D.C., and Bruce Johnson had both suffered massive heart attacks, although years apart. On July 2, 1992, Bruce was rushed to what was then Greater Southeast Community Hospital where Bobbi had worked as a nurse. Bobbi suffered her heart attack two years ago on a plane with her husband as they were returning from a trip to London.
