That didn't last long

May 6, 2022

The 76ers are down to 2-0 in their series against the Miami Heat. Their performance has been dreadful in the process, especially the defense. With how they are playing right now, it sure doesn't look like they will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

If that comes to be, I will be rooting for the Boston Celtics. I say this because the Celtics had a losing record until the middle of the season and have come back with a vengeance. Unfortunately for the 76ers, Joel Embiid hasn’t been able to play in the first two games because he sustained a severe eye injury in Game 6 of the last series. If he can come back for Game 3 and beyond, the 76ers still have a small chance to get back in the series.

The Phillies are currently playing well below expectations to start the season. The offense has not produced the number of runs that are always needed to win baseball games and to support the starting pitchers, who, for the most part, have done a decent job so far. The middle relief pitchers have to step up and the back end of the bullpen hasn’t had that many opportunities yet. The offense has to give them the lead for them to do their job. As of right now, the New York Mets have a commanding lead in the division. This weekend the Phillies have a big series with the Mets, Thursday through Sunday. Let’s hope they can win two games to split the series.

On a more positive note, the spring high school season is coming to the end. Good luck to all of the Cape Henlopen teams. I’ve been following the baseball team and boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams. They all have been having very successful seasons so far. I hope this continues into the playoff portion of their schedules. Go Cape!
