A special election for the the 20th Representative District seat recently vacated by Rep. Stell Parker Selby will be held Tuesday, Aug. 5.
Parker Selby resigned from her elected position June 24 after missing the entire legislative session. Under Delaware law, the speaker of the house had 10 days to submit a writ of election for the special election. Speaker of the House Rep. Melissa Minor-Brown, D-New Castle, issued the write July 3.
The winner of the special election will serve the remainder of the term for the 20th District, which will expire on Election Day in November 2026.
The Aug. 5 special election will be overseen by the Department of Elections.
Nikki Miller is the Republican candidate, while the Democrats will pick their candidate following a forum Thursday, July 3.
