Donna Blomquist, life of unyielding warmth, grace
Donna Blomquist, 74, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, from a decades-long battle with primary progressive multiple sclerosis.
Born in Stamford, Conn., she was the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Ivar Blomquist. She attended J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford, specializing in beauty culture. She later changed careers to serve as an administrative assistant until MS prevented her.
Throughout her life, Donna possessed an open heart and welcoming spirit. In spite of the difficulties life presented her with, she never complained about her situation and found joy in the friendships she had established. She had a unique ability to connect with people and make friends instantly. Beyond her familial ties, Donna's legacy of warmth, kindness, and genuine friendship extended to a vast network of friends whose lives she touched profoundly across her various residences in Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, and Delaware. Her unique and pervasive ability to instantly connect with people meant that her circle of affection was wide and inclusive. Her passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of the many individuals whose lives were enriched by her presence and her universally beloved nature.
She is survived by her brother, Robert; and her two nephews, niece, and three grand-nieces, Eric Blomquist of Virginia, Mark Blomquist of Connecticut, his wife Osheia, and two daughters, Lisa Barrow of Virginia, her husband Sloan Barrow, and one daughter.
A service to celebrate Donna’s life and to honor her enduring spirit will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 27, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth. All who knew and loved Donna are invited to attend and pay their final respects.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the National MS Society, P.O. Box 91891, Washington, D.C. 20090, events.nationalmssociety.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.donate.4. This directs generosity towards a cause directly related to Donna's courageous journey and her personal battle.
