Doodle parade delights spectators, satisfies a good cause

May 5, 2025

Rehoboth Beach went to the dogs once again April 26, as spectators lined the Boardwalk to catch a glimpse of dogs, and in some cases owners, for the Doodle Costume Parade.

This event is part of the annual Doodles in Dewey weekend, which was created more than 20 years ago by another organization. As the event grew too large, organizers began looking for a Delaware nonprofit to hand off the event to. Enter PAWS for People. Now in its fourth year, the event draws people, and dogs, from as far away as Plymouth, Mich., and raises money to train pet therapy teams.

“It was the perfect fit,” said Clarice Ritchie, executive director of PAWS for People. “They were really happy with our mission, and we were really excited to inherit an event that had such a great following.”

More than 700 people preregistered for the parade.
