E. A. G. L. E. S. ... Eagles!

February 9, 2018

It's awesome to be able to say that over and over again... The Philadelphia Eagles have won the Super Bowl!

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots in one of the most exciting Super Bowls ever! With a score of 41 to 33, both teams combined for over 1100 yards of offense. It was the first time ever, in a Super Bowl game, that the losing team did not punt the ball. This game was crazy fun to watch!

The Eagles offense stepped up and played their best game of the season just as their fans hoped they would. There were very few mistakes made and no dropped passes or screwed up plays. Nick Foles came into this game with two great previous showings and continued with that momentum.

One of the biggest plays of the game took place at the very end of the first half when the Eagles already had a lead. That trick play was a huge risk but went flawlessly and will be one to be talked about for years. The "Philly Special" that they pulled off on fourth down and one was as creative as I've ever seen in a Super Bowl game. Not only did quarterback Nick Foles make a touchdown, but that was the first time that a quarterback has ever caught a touchdown pass in a Super Bowl!

Eagles coach Doug Pederson knew that they needed to score as many points as possible. That actually turned out to be a correct assumption because the Eagles defense did not perform like everyone had hoped they would. The Eagles defense was supposed to be the strength of this game and yet the Patriots offense shot that down with their own strong offensive efforts.

Brandon Graham's sack and forced fumble really was the key play for the Eagles. The back and forth momentum of the entire game made it a real nail biter right down to the very last play.

I could go on and on about the Super Bowl, but this week is also another week for a very special sports venue. The Winter Olympics start in South Korea with great anticipation of all the events that will unfold in the next two weeks. I really enjoy all of it, but especially the figure skating and speed skating. I am also curious to see how the men's hockey goes. There are no NHL players playing for the first time in at least 25 years.
