Easter Seals offers loans for assistive technology, home modifications
Easter Seals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore’s low-interest loan program for assistive technology has a new name but offers the same great service to people in need of assistive technology or home and office modifications to make everyday activities more accessible.
Now known as the FYI: Finance Your Independence assistive technology loan program, the Easter Seals program helps Delawareans secure funding for a multitude of options to improve accessibility. These include modifications to make the home more accessible; an adapted vehicle with a wheelchair lift; work equipment such as a computer that accommodates for visual limitations to use at a job site or to work from home; and much more.
Even lower-cost items, such as hearing aids or a backup wheelchair, can be funded through this program.
Easter Seals administers the FYI program with lending partners DEXSTA Federal Credit Union and Del-One Federal Credit Union. Made possible through a combination of federal, state and private funding, the FYI program offers lower interest rates to the borrower than other conventional methods. Anyone who could benefit from these or any other types of assistive technology should contact Easter Seals to see if this program can be of assistance.
Delaware residents of all ages with disabilities, seniors with age-related functional limitations and family members caring for someone with a disability are eligible to apply, regardless of income.
