Eastern Shore radio host Rodney Baylous joins 88.7 The Bridge
Rodney Baylous, a longtime radio personality on Joy 102.5 WOLC in Princess Anne, Md., has joined the staff of 88.7 The Bridge as midday host. Baylous will be on the air from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weekdays, originating his broadcasts from Pocomoke City, Md. He began his broadcasting duties with The Bridge June 12.
Radio station 88.7 The Bridge, WKNZ, has been serving Southern Delaware and New Jersey since 2010 from studios in Milford and transmitting facilities in Harrington. The nonprofit ministry recently acquired 92.5, WICO-FM, licensed to Pocomoke, and now reaches a population exceeding 750,000 from Middletown south to Exmore, Va., and from South Jersey to Easton, Md.
Baylous was born in South Boston, Va. He attended Liberty University where he studied broadcast communications and had the opportunity to teach broadcasting courses. He's been in broadcasting for a number of years working at stations in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland. He has been married to his wife Lisa for over 20 years and they have two children, Courtney and Tyler.
Bill Sammons Jr, president and general manager of The Bridge, said the addition of Baylous to the staff of The Bridge is part of the station's commitment to provide local programming and to serve the entire Delmarva Peninsula. "Christian music is available online and via out-of-state networks, but there is something special about local Christian radio where the announcers live and work and worship in the community. The Bridge exists to connect people to Jesus, and to each other, and Rodney shares that passion with us. Having an announcer based out of Pocomoke will be a tremendous asset as we work to serve this region," Sammons said.
Radio station 88.7 The Bridge is a nonprofit ministry owned and operated by The Bridge of Hope Inc. For more information, go to www.887thebridge.com.
